🧬 Can you see past your shell? You may see skin. I see trillions of cells caring for us everyday, keeping us alive, working with and for us. I see a perfectly balanced system that handles stress, juggles emotions, fights off sickness all while keeping us breathing while we sleep. Our body should be cared for in the way that it cares for us. I love this body because it loves me. It’s doing it’s best just like I’m doing my best. It’s working hard because I work hard. To some, this shell is all that’s seen; a body or a face with no depth. It's been labeled, judged, criticized, gawked over, told it’s disgusting. It's been told it has too much muscle, not enough muscle, too lean, not lean enough. To those who only see a shell, the exterior will always be imperfect. But, to those who see deeper, there is true perfection in all of us. This body, this shell is the tool which allows me to live this beautiful life, and what the shell contains is what connects us all. We are all complex humans that have goals, desires, feelings, emotions, wants, passions, dreams. We have all been pushed, fallen, gotten back up only to be pushed again. Through the good and the bad, the ups and the downs, the collection of cells and small bits of vibrational energy that make up these bodies are the things that fight with and for us during every step of our journey. My vision extends past the shell to the person underneath where true beauty lies, which is why I can say I love this body in every condition and on the deepest most internal layer someone can. Fitness tips I WISH I knew when I was first starting out‼️👇🏻 Tag someone who should read these! – 🏃🏻‍♀️💨 CARDIO: You don’t need to do traditional cardio or cardio at all to lose body fat. Losing body fat all comes down to having healthy hormones and a calorie deficit. You can create that deficit though calories, increased energy expenditure (lifting weights, walking a little more, playing with your kids, dancing) or a combination of both 🤷🏻‍♀️ Simply being alive burns a ton of calories. Under eating and/or eating only foods with low nutritional value will eventually inhibit hormones function. If your hormones and metabolic state are damaged, you will have an extremely difficult time reaching any fitness or aesthetic goal. This is why you shouldn’t under eat especially for an extended amount of time. – 🥗🍴MEAL FREQUENCY: You don’t need to eat 6 small meals a day, but you can if you want, just hit your calorie/macro intake for the day or even week. I personally eat 3ish large meals a day because I don’t like lugging food everywhere or washing double the amount of containers 😂 Eating small and more frequent meals does not speed up or slow down your metabolism. – 🍩🥦 “FAT FOODS/LEAN FOODS”: I used to think that broccoli will make me lean and a donut will make me fat. That is FALSE 🚫 It’s the under/over consumption of CALORIES that will determine fat loss or gain. Every food has calories. The nutritional value between broccoli and a donut is different though. Food is “information” to our cells which is why I eat mostly nutrient dense foods. The occasional “fun” foods will NOT ruin your progress though… it comes down to your overall calorie intake and working things into your calories if you really want it. – ⚡️🔋 CALORIES ARE NOT AN ENEMY: They are fuel & energy 🙌🏻 Overall, calories will manipulate the look of your body, while macros dictate how you feel. This is why different types of diets are good for some and not for others. BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL DIET FOR EVERYONE. I started getting anxiety when I graduated high school heading into college. Throughout my life I’ve learned how to manage it pretty well, but I realized it gets uncontrollably bad during very stressful, intense or transitional periods in my life. My symptoms manifested in a few different ways but mostly in a constant state of discomfort, racing heart/thoughts, shaking, excessive worry, lack of appetite etc. I strongly believe there was a point in my life where the constant state of anxiety caused my internal health to go downhill. My body began showing physical symptoms that were hard to ignore because it was effecting my daily life.⁣ ⁣ I wake up this morning still finding new ways to manage what life throws at me because I KNOW how destructive this state of being can be. The last few months has been especially difficult. I’ll say that it’s incredibly frustrating to live such a healthy life… eat right and workout but when your mental health is suffering, you are still an “unhealthy” person.⁣ ⁣ Managing anxiety can seem nearly impossible sometimes. I’m sure most of you have been there. An important factor for me is to identify where it stems from and what can be done to fix or alleviate part of it. On top of that I choose to eat better, eliminate alcohol/drugs, focus on deep breathing, meditation, get outside, move my body, laugh, focus on supportive relationships, and look for reasons to be grateful. Your path is your path for a reason. Pay attention to the lessons meant for you and know you can rise up from anything. You are allowed to recreate yourself, you’re not stuck, you have choices, you can think new thoughts, and you can create new habits. You don’t have to solve your whole life overnight. And you don’t have to feel ashamed for being where you are. All you have to focus on is one small thing you can do today to get closer to where you want to be. One step at a time, & you will get there. We ALL start somewhere and it’s okay to not know your direction. For those of you that saw my story post about “relationships with food” after I accidentally demolished a pan of brownies in under 24 hours 😂 What did you think about my message? This is something that I really want to express to you guys and help inspire others out there that might need to build a better relationship with food. Obviously not condoning bingeing… but let’s face it, it happens and IT’S OKAY when it does. 👉🏻💥Food/calories are not the enemy. Food is fuel. Usually when people binge, it’s usually because they are stressed or feel they are being restricted… Or the food is just 💣 haha. – As someone who gets looked at and judged daily about my appearance, you would think that it would be natural for me to become obsessive about food and exercise and looking perfect ALL THE TIME.
